# Writing & Content

The **Write** studio is CoreReflex's copywriting pillar — the place where words get made. It turns a fill-in-the-blanks template (or a plain brief) into a finished, structured document, keeps it on your brand voice, and then hands it downstream: into a spoken **script**, a **slide deck** you can present and export, a downloadable file, or a **client sign-off link**. It's the front of the pipeline — write once, then send the same words wherever they need to go.

Write runs as a mode in the **studio editor** at [editor.corereflex.com](https://editor.corereflex.com). Open the editor and switch to **Write** from the studio switcher.

## Before you start

- **Sign in once, work everywhere.** Write lives in the editor but uses the same account as [corereflex.com](https://corereflex.com). If the studio says "Sign in at corereflex.com first", do that and come back.
- **Generation is metered.** Each **Generate** (and each rewrite/regeneration) is a metered AI operation costing **3 credits** when credit metering is switched on for your instance. Editing, saving, downloading, and the handoffs below are free. See [Plans & Billing](plans-and-billing.md) for how credits work.
- **Brand is optional but powerful.** If your team has set up a Brand in **Brand Studio** (Pro), your approved brand colors and voice flow into what Write produces — see [the Brand cascade](#on-brand-by-default--the-brand-cascade) below.

## The three columns

| Column | What it's for |
|--------|---------------|
| **Left — Templates & Documents** | The template library up top; your saved documents below, with **+ New** to start fresh. |
| **Center — The document** | A clean writing surface. Your generated copy appears here as editable Markdown — edit it freely; headings, lists, and quotes are preserved. |
| **Right — Inputs & actions** | Fill the template's fields, set **Tone** and **Audience**, then **Generate**. Below sit **Save**, the handoffs, and **Download**. |

## The template library

Each template is a proven structure with a few fill-in fields:

| Template | Category | You fill in |
|----------|----------|-------------|
| **Authority Blog Post** | Marketing | Topic, audience, focus keyword, call to action — a long-form, search-aware article. |
| **Nurture Email Sequence** | Email | Audience, topic, offer, call to action — a multi-email sequence that educates and builds trust. |
| **Conversion Landing Page** | Sales | Product, audience, problem, call to action — hero, proof, benefits, and offer copy. |
| **Founder Newsletter Brief** | Newsletter | Audience, topic, call to action — one sharp insight, a short story, and a clear takeaway. |
| **Point of View Social Post** | Social | Topic, audience, engagement question — a concise opinion post that invites replies. |

Fields marked **\*** are required — Generate will tell you exactly which ones are missing if you skip one.

## Writing a document

1. **Pick a template** from the left column. Its description and input fields appear on the right.
2. **Fill the inputs** — the template's fields, plus an optional **Tone** ("confident", "warm and plain-spoken") and **Audience**.
3. **Generate.** CoreReflex's AI writes the piece and lays it out as titled sections, paragraphs, lists, and pull-quotes in the center. (This is the metered step — 3 credits per run when metering is on.)
4. **Edit** directly in the center surface — it's yours to shape. Headings (`#`, `##`, `###`), list bullets (`-`), and quotes (`>`) round-trip cleanly, so editing never flattens your structure.
5. **Save document** to keep it. Saved documents appear in the left list; reopen one to keep working (the button becomes **Update document**), or delete it with the **×**.

Not happy with a draft? Adjust the tone or inputs and **Generate** again — each regeneration is a fresh metered run.

## On-brand by default — the Brand cascade

CoreReflex's brand system is a cascade: assets you approve at the **Account** level flow down through a **Brand** into every **Project** (workspace) linked to it, and from there into the services that generate work — including copy.

Here's how it reaches your writing:

1. **Set it up in Brand Studio** (Pro). Create a Brand, then add its assets — logo, palette, typography, **voice**, tagline, context. Each asset is individually approved: only what you've explicitly approved ever cascades, so a half-baked draft never sneaks into your output.
2. **Link your Project.** In Brand Studio, use **Use in this project** on the brand — the Project now inherits that brand's approved kit.
3. **The approved assets flow into Write's output:**
   - **Voice** — when copy is generated as part of an automated workflow or scheduled autopilot run, your brand's approved voice descriptors are woven into the writing automatically, so every copy step speaks in one voice without you re-typing it.
   - **Colors** — the **Send to Slides** handoff reads your approved palette and builds the deck on-brand: a primary-colored title slide with readable contrast and an accent bar on every slide.

When you're generating one-off in the Write studio itself, the **Tone** field is yours — a quick way to stay on voice is to type your brand's voice descriptors there (e.g. "confident, warm, expert").

> Workspaces that promoted a legacy brand kit ("✦ Use for autopilot copy" in Brand Studio) before the Brand cascade existed keep working unchanged — the cascade simply takes precedence once a Project is linked to a Brand.

## Sending it downstream

A finished document doesn't have to stay a document. From the right column:

### → Send to Script

Turns the body into spoken script lines (headings are skipped) and creates a project in **Script Studio** — the start of the voiceover/film path. Script lines are capped at 50 lines / 1,000 characters each; if your document is longer, Write tells you exactly how much transferred rather than silently truncating.

### → Send to Slides

Builds a **Slide Studio** deck from the document, and lands you straight in Slide Studio with the deck open:

- The document title becomes a centered **title slide** — on your brand's primary color when a brand is linked.
- Every top-level heading starts a **new slide** with that heading as its title; the paragraphs, sub-headings, quotes, and bullet points beneath it become the slide's body.
- With a linked brand, the deck is tinted on-brand — accent bar, brand-colored titles, readable contrast picked automatically.

From there the deck is a real presentation, not a dead end: hit **▶ Present** for a full-screen **presenter mode** with keyboard navigation, keep editing every slide on the canvas, and **export the deck** — including as a **PPTX** that opens in PowerPoint, Keynote, or Google Slides, or as a PDF/image set. See [Slides & Presentations](slides-and-presentations.md) for the full deck workflow.

## Client sign-off on a Write document

A Write document can be a **proof deliverable** — shared with a client on a private link where they read it, comment, and approve or request changes. This is part of the Pro proofing suite.

1. Save your document in the Write studio.
2. Open the dashboard at [corereflex.com](https://corereflex.com) and go to the **Proofing** panel.
3. Give the proof a title, set the source type to **Write document**, and pick your saved document from the list.
4. Click **Create proof**, then **+ New share link** — the private review link is copied to your clipboard.
5. Send the link to your client. They see the document rendered as a clean page, can leave comments, and record an **Approve** or **Request changes** decision — all of which roll into your Proofing panel.

The full review workflow — versions, comments, decisions, and link management — is covered in [Proofing & Approvals](proofing-and-approvals.md).

---

## Downloading & printing

The **Download** row gives you the document as a real file, all generated in your browser:

- **.docx** — a genuine Microsoft Word file (open it in Word, Google Docs, or Pages).
- **.md** — Markdown, for the web or another tool.
- **.txt** — plain text, list bullets preserved.
- **🖨 Print / PDF** — opens a clean print view; use your browser's **Save as PDF** to export a polished PDF.

Nothing leaves your machine for an export — the files are built client-side and downloaded directly.

---

## Tips

- **Structure with headings.** Send to Slides breaks slides on your top-level headings — a document with clear `#`/`##` sections becomes a clean deck in one click.
- **Body text drives scripts.** Send to Script skips headings, so make sure the words you want spoken live in paragraphs, not titles.
- **Tone beats regeneration.** A precise Tone ("plain-spoken, no jargon, second person") usually gets you closer in one metered run than several vague retries.
- **Save before you hand off.** The handoffs work from the live document, but only a **saved** document can be picked as a proof deliverable in the dashboard.
- **Edit fearlessly.** The center surface is plain Markdown — you can paste in text from anywhere and still use every handoff and download.

## Troubleshooting

| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "Sign in at corereflex.com first." | The editor can't find your session. | Sign in at [corereflex.com](https://corereflex.com), then reload the editor. |
| "Missing required input(s): …" | A template field marked **\*** is empty. | Fill the named field(s) and Generate again — nothing was charged. |
| "Too many requests" | You've generated more than 30 times in a minute. | Wait a moment and try again. |
| A credits message stops Generate | Metering is on and your balance is below 3 credits. | Top up or upgrade — see [Plans & Billing](plans-and-billing.md). You're stopped **before** anything is charged. |
| "The writing engine is not configured…" | Your instance's AI writing service isn't set up. | Contact whoever operates your CoreReflex instance. |
| "Add some body text first — headings alone can't become a script." | Send to Script found no non-heading text. | Add paragraph text below your headings. |
| "Add a heading or some text first — there's nothing to turn into slides." | The document is empty. | Write or generate something first. |
| "Sent N of M lines to Script — capped at 50 lines / 1000 chars per line." | Your document was longer than a script allows. | The first 50 lines transferred; split a very long piece into two documents if you need it all spoken. |
